I am currently the VP of Information Technology at a consulting company called NextGen Professional Services LLC. I am V1RU5, I got into hacking / network security when I got my first computer, the apple IIe. This computer was a perfect hacking box. The system was easy to setup, was easy to have custom-built for your needs and for its time, very power full. Now I have the philosophy, "friends don't let friends by Mac". I went from a apple fanatic to a apple hater. It's more the company I dislike then the box itself. With the new OS10 on the Mac "os10 is based on Free BSD" I am starting to change my thinking on this. The first program I ever wrote was a password protected catalog for the apple IIe. When you booted up a disk on the computer, it would ask you for a password. If you put in the wrong password, it would re-boot the system. I had it configured for three different passwords. The level one password would show you a limited catalog of the disk, the level two password would show you a more complete catalog, and the level three password would show you the full catalog. I got my apple IIe the week they were released on the market. I was in the 9th grade at the time. Wow, I'm old.

I have been doing independent consulting for around 19 years. In collage my major was Electronic Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. I lecture all across the country on network security and computer viruses.

How did I get the name V1RU5? Well, I have always had a fascination with computer viruses. I have studied them in detail and have developed the reputation of being an authority on the subject. So, the name just kind of fit. If you have ever been to Defcon or H2K you may have seen some of my lectures such as Introduction to Computer Viruses, Social Engineering, and Lock Pick Demo. As to the Lock Pick Demo, I was a professional Magician for about 15 years. As a magician, I was also an escape artist. I specialized in picking hand cuffs.
